The Alien Crown

The objective of the fitting piece assignment was to create an object that fit onto something else, whether it be another object or a person. Aside from that guideline, we had full creative freedom to make whatever we wanted in whatever 3D printing material we wanted as long as it fit.

I decided I wanted to make a crown, but not just any crown, an alien crown inspired by the aliens from Jimmy Neutron. I had way too much fun with this, and learned a lot from it.

During this assignment, I used Nomad Sculpt for the first time, and I got my first 3D printer, the Anycubic Kobra 2 Pro. While the modeling process went fairly smoothly, the printing process was a nightmare. Supports refused to adhere to the build plate, print after print would fail, and after a while, I resorted to glue sticks and hair spray. Eventually I resorted to manually creating a support stand that could be easily cut off. This made it possible to print.

Using a 3D printing pen and the same filament I used in printing, I added eyelids.
